Heart Of The Matter

Autumn Leaves And Misty Trees

September's misty autumn song,
Summer loving all but gone,
Wistful memories in our time,
I wonder, were you really mine,

Secret thoughts and hopeful dreams,
Ill fated now, in plots and schemes,
Hurtful words all took their place,
The truth lay naked on his face,

As autumn slipped into my day,
I trust that love will find a way,
Take comfort in the morning dew,
Step forward into pastures new,

September's song seems sad to me,
Mournful nights are all I see,
Autumn leaves and misty trees,
And morning dew akin to tears.
