My dream of becoming a poetess
Leaves my tender heart exposed
To the criticism of complete strangers
My secret doors have always been closed
My private thoughts may be trampled on
Dirty footprints can surely be traced
Some may call me a foolish dreamer
As my poetry will not suit their taste
Others may linger to comment
On the emotions my poetry evokes
While others may be heard to snicker
They may take me for a fine joke
No matter how they choose to read me
I've laid down all that it takes
To become an honest poetess
I try not to be a lousy fake
So far I've never been low rated
All my readers have been so great
Leaving messages of encouragement
No one has left hints of hate
With love I want to say "Thank you!"
As I've taken this big leap of faith
In sharing with all of you my thoughts
My fears you've thoughly abate
