Heart Of The Matter
Dear Mr. Moon
Dear Mr. Moon,
I've been thinking a lot about you recently,
I seem trapped in a memory,
And for some reason, I can't escape,
No matter how hard I try …
You've been with me a long time,
And you've been apart….
Yet, I still looked for you,
You shone brightly for me, and,
When dark clouds dimmed my view of you,
You disappeared into night,
And I felt lost somehow,
Sadness dampened my spirit, and,
I forgot to smile,
I locked the gateway to my heart,
And mislaid the key ..
It felt safer that way,
For only an exposed heart can be wounded,
And hurt ..
Broken, beyond repair,
Dear Mr. Moon,
I have been thinking about you,
And tonight, I saw you there,
Shining your light from high, as always,
I gazed upon your face,
And found myself smiling,
I felt safe that way … and inspired,
For only an exposed heart can be healed,
With the tender touch,
Of romance.
