Requiem for Love

What once I saw as my heart's desire makes me weary and quickly tire.......

What once I saw as my heart's desire,
makes me weary and quickly tire.
Yes, I wonder what is love?

When I was young and full of wonder,
Oh, how I felt and fell asunder.
Forgot the heartache and pain of.

Yet through it all my heart held steadfast,
no matter what lot or die was cast.
My heart it kept on sharing.

Who knows the later of that feeling,
that leaves us defenseless with the reeling,
or struck down with tears for lack of caring.

It is the nature of love that hearts should beat,
and sweep us forever off our feet,
no matter how we might plan or scheme.

Me I've known love at times,
the pulling of the heart the cord that binds,
but now I've found that love is just a dream.
