Heart Of The Matter

Solace On Your Shore

The night dark and wet,
Rain lashing in torrents,
The ocean wild and willing,
The storm at sea,
Seeking its revenge,
On those who choose to defy it.

I will not leave this shore,
For in truth, I am the tides which give it credence,
The ebb and flow, steadfast and loyal,
I am its passion, and its power,
And I will remain until I am sated.

The raging torrent has no effect on me,
I welcome its fury in the night,
Let it unleash the craving of the sombre moon,
It's light somewhat diminished,
By ugly blackened clouds of contempt,
And hidden from mournful lovers,
Who seek its blessing.

Tempest,
Rage on,
You will not see me falter in your midst,
I am immune to your turmoil,
And once your passion is spent,
I will emerge victorious,
And I shall seek my solace on your shore.
