Poetry For Everyday People

Daily Invasions

Don't you wanna
say drop the act, please,
tell me something
real, no lines, no
formulated responses,
no pitch, no game,

man don't you know the score?

my time is short friend,
let me be in my thoughts,
my words, I might stumble
on a cure, even the much
overlooked:  word cure,

the thing of it is,
I am consumed within
the surface of living,
the truth rather than
the show of it,
I feel a closeness
to people I can only
touch from a far,

I am offended easily
when people feel they
can waste my time, polite
as I am, I have never
had a problem telling
someone to get the hell out
of my life, we owe it
to ourselves not to take
s-h-i-t from anybody,

where do they expect us to store that?

in five minutes I can
write a poem that will
save me for days, weeks,
it might even make someone
laugh, feel less alone,

I am a beautiful
freak free diving
in the arms of my
brothers and sisters
confessing, asking, sharing,
all I know,

gracefully
flying
thankfully
mostly
undetected.
