Poetry For Everyday People

Coltrane On The Rocks

Back to reading
more about stress,
panic attacks,
it's a battle
you beat it,
you don't,
my mind
playing me,

psychological
chess,
calling me out,
once I control
an aspect of it,
a new condition
develops, always
invisibly subtle,
a step ahead,
feeling almost outside
my body, as if the air
I'm breathing is not
satisfying all my senses,

exploring yoga,
meditation has been
my ace yet I seem to
need more of it,

more of this,

we get used to
things that time
sneaks in on us,

I read a poem by
a beautiful woman many
years ago, in it,
she questions how
long before she
bought her self a
comfortable chair?
even though financially
feasible,

I think about
that often,
the way we
learn to tolerate
discomfort, on every
level, time lost
unrealized in real
time,
is reflection
something lost?

comfortable cotton,
bare foot with my
legs folded, candles
flickering night symphony,
writing my way away
from this feeling,
telling myself
cool baby
you know too much
about magic to let
reality invade.
