      First Love
 
I remember my first love's exciting birth
               Pure as the rain
               Soft was the pain
Which blossomed forth in my young girl's heart
               Gentle as a dove
               Silent from above
Earth's highest peak just couldn't reach as high
The universe from end to end could never be as wide
               Sunshine which brightened each earthly day
        Was merely a shadow I truly could say
Compared to it's glow in every way
And yet it's magic did not last long
              I soon heard my first love's goodby song
I did not know where I went wrong
              What smothered love's fires burning so strong?
Endless Time was my only friend
She remained faithful until the end
