The Mistress of Word Play

Inside us all the darkness does dwell.
Some stifle it and others hide it well.
We all have the need to howl at the moon,
or clap our hands when they play a fast tune.
We can all try to lose the darker part
the bitter things which invade the heart
yet we can never truly escape the feeling
because at certain times it comes stealing.
No matter how we try, we are participants
to the lure and appeal of night time's wants.
I cannot deny it the dark will always be
the more beautiful and better part of me!
