Daddy's Little Girl
I see the way you look in her eyes
love written all over your face
its time for me to step aside
so you can proudly take my place
You'll take your turn at protecting her
the same way I've done for years
sharing all that surrounds her
both the laughter and the tears
It will be just a little different though
but I trust you'll get the job done
I see in the eyes of my little girl
her heart you've surely won
I'll walk her down the aisle of white
it'll be hard to give her away
so listen to me very closely
I still have something to say
For you see, I loved her first
from the moment of birth
the first breath she breathed
her first smile here on earth
Now let me say, I held her first
how she looked up to me
with such pride on her face
I was her hero you see
She's been Daddies little girl
I was the man in her life
but now she's all grown up
and she'll be your wife
So please, you must understand
for I loved her first
and letting go of her hand
I feel my heart burst
As I place her hand in yours
both with pain and with pride
and with tears on my cheek
I kiss my little girl, your bride
