The river in twilight's slumber creeps along her sandy shore.....
The river in twilight's slumber,
creeps along her sandy shore.
Darkness makes it appear colder,
more solemn than before.
I remember golden hours spent,
in summer's waxing days,
Winter's made it cruel and hard,
so much like me in ways.
Oh, often times I've wondered,
if beneath those chilly waves,
is there a fire in its soul like mine,
that nothing ever staves?
Yes, heart of mine forever torn,
between darkness and daylight,
how I wish I were the river,
and could take to endless flight.
