 ramblings and things

In Vino Veritas

He discovered the secret of the universe
The ultimate single final answer to all
It blazed away there in his mind
Like fiery letters on a wall
He savoured it he tested it
He erased any trace of doubt
He took one more celebratory drink
And graceless ignominiously passed right out

He discovered the secret of the universe
That memorable night on the town
And so full of elation he that
He forgot to write it down
He tried to recover it
For days and days and days
Trying to dispel the murk around
His celebratory exuberant alcoholic haze

He discovered the secret of the universe
And now he sits and rues his lot
The only answer to everything
And the silly twerp forgot
He sits nightly in that bar
And he so morosely thinks
I could have saved the universe
But for those very last celebratory drinks
