Heart Of The Matter
Stranger To Her Eyes
I will no more sit, and wonder why,
I shed no tears, none left to cry,
Stark reality dawned so clearly,
I'm losing something I held dearly.
When did it start, the slow decline,
A time, a place, I can't define,
The signs were there, I didn't see,
I saw a child, stare back at me.
A tortured child in a mother's eyes,
Jealous hatred, no disguise,
She plays a game of hide and seek,
From day to day, and week to week.
But now and then a glimpse of she,
who loved me once and cared for me,
I more and more antagonise,
And I am stranger to her eyes.
