Last Call

The heavy weight upon my soul weighs
me down so!
Things that I did and things that I should have
done, cries out to me in the middle of my
waking night…visions from far out of sight.

One by one, they march on and leave me here
to cry…I know, I know! I too must someday die.
Yesterday lives on only in my aging mind, but
tomorrow must come, for I have many things
still undone!

My tears of silver and gold fall like holy
rain drops in an attempt to wash away
my sins of yesterday.

But, no one knows the pain in my heart or the
emptiness in my soul. The anxiousness of being
alone in the last days of my life… onward into
the journey of the dark, silent unknown.

Death comes to us all, but I wish I knew how to
postpone that last dreaded call!
