 The Unfairness Of Angels

Maurice

Maurice is my cat
We are a great double act
He makes me smile when I am sad
And he calms me down when I am mad
He's grey and white
And he goes out every night
But when I wake up he's there
Asleep in my room or on the stair
We got him a few months before we knew about mum
And in her final days he brought us much needed fun
He is like my feline son
My little special fluffy chum
He sometimes catches birds and mice
And he brings me their dead bodies, which isn't very nice
He spends his days playing, eating and sleeping
But he always come and stays with me when he hears me weeping
When mum was sick and shortly after she died
He came and sat on my lap, until all my tears had dried
Maurice is a little legend, and I love him
He knows all my secrets as I tell him everything
He likes to attack my toes
And sleeping on my brother's clothes
When the house is empty and I am alone
He stays with me, bringing love into my home
I have had so many pets in my life
Two dogs, 3 cats, I've had everything apart from a wife
Although Maurice doesn't give me what a woman can
He is still is my favourite little man
