I am not important in the eyes of this world
Of wealth I have none; no glory or fame
I am a nobody; quickly forgotten
So few to greet me or call me by name
But I am important in the eyes of my God
The lowest of the low but always on His mind
So important to Him; He sent His dear Son
That one day for me His salvation I would find
So important to Him He sent His Son to die
To suffer and bleed on the wood of the tree
What a wondrous thing; I can scare take it in
I was so important to Him He sent Jesus down for me
So important to Jesus dying in agony and pain
Hanging like a criminal on that cross of shame
Each gasp of His breath; I imagine in my mind
He was thinking of me and calling my name
So important to Him He took my punishment
His love for me so great He wanted to save
A nobody like me; disdained by the world
And give me life eternal beyond death and the grave
I am not important but I do not really mind
For I walk with the King and that is enough for me
And when He talks with me as we go along
He makes me feel to Him I am as important as can be
