Heart Of The Matter
Evergreen
The nights grow cold,
Yet, love is warm,
And safely sheltered,
From the storm,
The river flows,
Down to the sea,
And all is well,
With you and me.
And quietly conscious,
Of the rain,
Protected, perfectly,
Insane,
And harming never,
You and I,
We watch the river,
Passing by.
And from a bank,
So lush and green,
We two,
To one another lean,
Finding strength,
To stand our ground,
And what, we thought, we lost,
We found.
Together now,
Alone, at last,
We watch the river,
Take the past,
Uncertainties,
What might have been,
The mossy bank,
For ever, green.
