 The Heart of an Encourager

An encourager will go out of their way
In showing they care by what they say.
When they hear of someone in need,
They willingly respond in word or deed.

Some people have good intentions,
But don't act on their own aspirations.
They will think about giving someone a call.
Next week comes and they don't do it at all.

Barnabas in the Bible is an example to us,
"Son of Encouragement" – faithful and just.
He believed in those whose lives he touched,
Even when others didn't think of them much.

A good teacher has confidence in her class.
She will encourage them until the very last.
When one student wants to give up and quit,
She will help them see that they can do it.

All of us have had people in our lives who cared.
They lifted us up and in all of our burdens shared.
Now it is time for us to pass that torch on to a friend,
To show them our love and concern to the very end.

Philemon 1:7 (NIV)
Your love has given me great joy and encouragement,
because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.
