Bad Memories
I've let go,
I don't know
if you feel it?
but I have let go,
you can keep trying
to come back, bother
me at work, in my sleep,
as I walk, jog, eat, drink,
you can keep knocking, calling,
showing up at happy hour, you
can hide in a box of old letters,
pictures, you can crawl out of the
walls, bleed through time,
but I have let go,
and your reminders will no longer
own me, bring me down, make me feel
it all over again, the wind is mine
to fly a kite, the moon is mine to
dream, free of you,
butterfly thoughts will no longer
be interrupted.
I don't know
if you feel it?
but I have let go,
you can keep trying
to come back, bother
me at work, in my sleep,
as I walk, jog, eat, drink,
you can keep knocking, calling,
showing up at happy hour, you
can hide in a box of old letters,
pictures, you can crawl out of the
walls, bleed through time,
but I have let go,
and your reminders will no longer
own me, bring me down, make me feel
it all over again, the wind is mine
to fly a kite, the moon is mine to
dream, free of you,
butterfly thoughts will no longer
be interrupted.
