Heart Of The Matter
Ripe For Romance
The night is ripe for romance,
A table set for two,
A candle flickers gently,
Soft lights and music too,
He's tall and dark and handsome,
His conversation flows,
I try not to look distracted,
I wonder if he knows,
He tries hard to impress me,
This connoisseur of wine,
He chooses well the vintage,
From a little known French vine,
And like an actress, unrehearsed,
Forgotten lines, I fear,
The scene is set for romance,
And I wonder; why I'm here.
