I Didn't Dance Today
I didn't dance today,
Instead, I sat with you,
Held your hand,
And talked,
There was so much I had to say,
Thoughts unspoken for so long,
And you listened intently,
Caressing my fingertips,
In gentle affirmation,
You opened your heart to me,
And our souls became one,
Silent words exchanged,
In perfect understanding,
And reciprocated in kind,
I didn't dance today,
Instead, I watched you smile,
And I listened as you told me,
Things I'd known, for quite a while.
