Standing Guard
Be not angry or sin into wrath,
After the sun sets on your path;
Neither giving Satan a chance,
For it will allow him to advance.
For the evil one thrives on hate,
Watching you to twist your fate;
Comes like a thief in the night,
As the darkness hides the light.
Ready to corrupt what you do,
Willing to even distort the view;
Cunning enough with a dare,
For trapping you within his lair.
Rather let bitterness for to subside,
Allowing Christ to enter and abide;
As the Holy Spirit standing guard,
Before your heart can be marred.
So be tenderhearted and kind,
Forgiving others in your mind;
Then show how much you care,
By telling it to God in prayer.
