A True Start

I have seen you in the eyes of your grandpa, Chief Key,
in this reflection of his love there is a lot to see.
He always talks about you, and the things that you do.
His conversations are so powerful, i feel as if i know you.

He believes in his heart one day you'll be a great man,
I know your only fifteen and you might not understand.
But your grandfather has a proud past and one day you will see,
then there will be things you will tell your own kids about his legacy.

Your grandpa served his country in a suit of blue,
His duty helped this nation along with me and you.
If it were not for people like your loyal Grandpa Key,
we may not live in this beautiful land so happy and care free.

Your Grandpa's suit had nine silver and white stripes upon his sleeves.
He's proud to have served his country, American pride is what he believes.
This fine retired gentleman's suit and ribbons are put away.
He's a hero in Metcalf, he flies the red, white and blue each day,

One day Raleigh, you will see the convictions of his heart,
his loyalty to God and  fellow man is where it all did start.
