Heart Of The Matter

Love Unrequited

No sadder love,
Than love unrequited,
Passion dies,
And fades in the embers,
No longer burning,
Dampened by pain,
External light,
Internal rain,

But sadder still,
Is love in disguise,
Tarnished by ego,
Consummated by lies,
Tempered and tortured,
Consumed by the fire,
Tainted and driven,
By shallow desire.

But  …..

A love that is real,
Will transcend space and time,
It's constant
And captive,
There's no reason or rhyme,
It's there with you always,
Whether near or apart,

A love that is real,
Lives so deep in the heart.
