 Joy's Terse Verse

Couple On A Tram

As they stepped onto the tram, his
soft snowy hair quivered with life.

She looked calm and secure and had an
air about her that meant business.

Both were dressed for comfort, yet they
had a style that was unique and understated.

Her wiry greying hair was strong and wavy-
her face was aging into soft smile lines.

His face was smooth and glowing pink-
it surrounded his soft blue cheeky eyes.

They sat in unison.

The Melbourne tram rattled as they
relaxed together without a word.

They smiled at each other with sweet intensity-it seemed
they didn't need words to express their thoughts.

When the tram stopped at their destination, they carefully
stepped down and wandered away into the rest of their beautiful
lives, together.
