Leaving

Oh if I could but choose
Where and when that I die
I'd take a pint of John Smiths
'Neath a Yorkshire blue sky
At Headingley Cricket Ground
Home of the best
Fifth and final day
Of an Ashes series Test
The winner doesn't matter
Just thwack of wood on leather
With five full days play
And some variable weather
Plenty of pace bowling
Ending with a spinner's wicket
And a hard fought match
Of serious cricket
And the result in doubt until
Time running out fast
Near stumps being drawn
There's a winner at last
A last taste of good ale
A last look around
Then off to my maker
At the Final Test ground
