 "The Thanksgiving Day Tradition " (a little humor for your holiday's)
Photobucket

~~~
Thanksgiving Day is a yearly celebration;
marked as a sense of gratitude;
that people feel for all the good
things in life they have been blessed with.
~~~

They do this by prayers gifting dear loved ones.
The fourth  Thursday in the month of November;
is the date marked for this yearly celebration.
This celebration is celebrated with family get togethers.
~~~
Usually it includes a full day planned with;
lots of enjoyable activities including such as.
Some football on TV, cards, board games, parades;
and lots of chatting. Anything really !
~~~

But what is most important of all;
is the big feast.
Yes, the feast is the most important;
thing to everyone who is involved.
~~~
Looking forward to that luscious turkey;
and all the trimmings.
This feast usually begins with everyone;
sitting down to a nicely decorated table.
~~~

Now some may go out all the way;
with white linen's, and cloth napkins as well.
And the finest handed down china.
And you can't forget the wine glasses of course.
~~~
Sometimes candles are lite for the occasion.
then all the adults usually have a toast;
with a nice glass of wine.
Or they really go all the way and serve 'Champagne'
~~~

Then prayer is offered;
usually someone at the head of the table
being the father or grandfather.
Then others take their part and give thanks as well.
~~~
After giving thanks the head of the table;
being Dad or grandpa usually carves this;
luscious traditional stuffed turkey that;
everyone has been so anxiously waiting for.
~~~

Or if Turkey is not a favorite on this special
occasion. Maybe Ham  would be offered.
Of course all served the same way.
With appetites waiting in line.
~~~
After the Turkey is carved along comes the rest;
of the course which would be mashed potatoes 'n' gravy;
home made biscuits, squash, scalloped corn;
cranberry sauce, maybe a nice relish tray and salad.
~~~

After the main course is served then;
delicious pumpkin pie with whip cream is offered.
Or maybe some other favorites like apple, pecan,
berry pies, some like cream pies.
~~~
Now there will be lots of good conversation;
at the table amongst everyone participating.
But,,,, most of the conversation;
will be all about the food.
~~~

Everyone giving compliments to each dish that was made.
Now while stories are being swapped, everyones bite
is being savored by this time;
and everyone is enjoying the feast.
~~~
At this time every ones pallet;
is being satisfied. As the afternoon moves on;
sometimes maybe certain members of the family;
will catch the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
~~~

Or maybe on another channel the Christmas Parade;
is being aired that same day with Santa leading the runway.
(Setting the mood for another Holiday;
and another big feast).
~~~
Now usually after the big feast;
everyone is stuffed to the gills;
it's time for the NFL football game.
Now the guys usually move where the TV is.
~~~

So as the women do all the cleaning up;
after everyone, the guys are all gathered;
in the living room for the big game.
Of course they've been waiting all day for this.
~~~
Now this preparation for this big feast;
usually takes hours sometimes days to prepare;
only to have it all done and over in
about twenty minutes or so.
~~~

Before you know it the big feast is all over.
Now, by this time maybe some other family members;
are getting into some games of some sort.
Or just sitting around the table chatting.
~~~
Now the afternoon is flowing by nicely;
and everyone is having a good time.
Everyone is all caught up;
on the latest family news and gossip.
~~~

And the food from the first feast;
is all digested, it's time once again to go
for a second round of turkey, and pumpkin pie.
Then everyone is in misery all over again.
~~~
But it's what the participant looks forward to;
every Thanksgiving.
So as the celebration comes to an end and everyone;
is in total misery, and feeling guilty for blowing;
their diet.
~~~

And everyone is caught up in the latest;
family news. Then the subject of Christmas;
now comes into view.
Now everyone is wondering what to do about
Christmas. Shall we draw names? What about the menu?
~~~
So while the end of one holiday draws to a a final;
celebration another one arrives upon; the scene
moments later.  Well I guess that's what Holidays;
are all about.
~~~

Everyone celebrates them in a different way;
but one thing you can be sure of though.
The feast will always play the most important;
role of the families celebration.
~~~
Yes' the menu will surly always be planned in;
full detail during the Holidays.
I hope this has added a little humor;
to your Holiday Celebrations.
~~~

Happy Thanksgiving
~~~
