Heart Of The Matter

Haunted Heart

A haunted heart beats slightly out of tune,
It seeks its sense of rhythm in the rain,
Finds comfort in a waxing, waning moon,
Determined not to let love in again,

A heart that's haunted lives in daily pain,
Becomes accustomed to the echoes there,
And when love calls it's treated with disdain,
The heart has only emptiness to share,

And tormented by what has passed it by,
A soul mate sent to make it whole, complete,
Unrecognised, love's sweetest lullaby,
Is banished to a memory, file delete,

This haunted heart beats slightly out of tune,
And sanctifies; the dark side of the moon.
