The Mistress of Word Play

Here in the silence of this garden,
I bow my head and beg your pardon.
Make my heart and soul once more clean;
forever on your presence let me lean.

I cannot make this journey alone
for weeds along the way have grown.
I am left at times with a broken heart
when I allow your spirit to depart.

Life is hard and now I see,
I want You walking next to me.
You always wait until I come calling
and catch me whenever I am falling.

Though I may live till I am old and bent
I will remember those blessings which You sent.
Pray do not let me stray from the path
for I have come to see the aftermath.

I will be careful and sing of your glory
and share with others the salvation story.
Pray stay with me and save me a place
where I might one day see your face.
