Heart Of The Matter

Those Little Love Letters

Those little love letters,
All tied up in rhyme,
The words disentangled,
And scattered in time,

In pages of parchment,
The lies in the lines,
Yet still, recalls memories,
Of happier times,

Words written by hand,
That came from the heart,
Now it's hard to remember,
How it was at the start,

Were they true as we saw them?
Were we blinded by fire?
How quickly extinguished,
The funeral pyre,

Now love lies in ashes,
The mortal remains,
Now buried in boundaries,
And shackled by chains,

A ring of bright teardrops,
Discarded by rain,
And those little love letters,
Read again, and again.
