MEMORIAL DAY, 1994

A poem, a memorial to those who have died
A memory of all the times I've held back
The emotion of all the times I've cried
Your forgiveness for all of love that I may lack

I care for the dying of this town
Watching hearts fail, old and weak
A kind nurse they want around
My care if possible they seek

And Roxie I kept you comfortable
With oxygen, tylenol suppositories, and morphine
And your family came in time to see you
Before your spirit was no longer to be seen

And all the Roxies I have cared for
Touch my heart in such a special way
Even though I can't express it boldly as I work
In writing I can tell about my memorial for today.
