What Would You Say?
If you knew the date and time a loved one passed away
If you could tell them anything what is it you would say?
Knowing they knew nothing…had no clue they were to die
Would you take that final chance to say I love you and goodbye?
Would you say “Stop don’t go! Let’s look at picture books today.
Let’s remember everything and say what we need to say.”?
Would you spend those final hours discussing happy times?
Would you embrace them…look at them…catch them…with your eyes?
If you knew you’d lose the time you have with them right then
If fate said “No..uhuh…foul play...they can’t know how or when”
What would you say to let them know…to let them feel your love?
How would you tell them everything before they were up above?
Is there enough time in this world our true feelings to express?
When we’re running here and there and have no time to rest?
The answer to this question is not a simple one to see.
For we are not all knowing and that we’ll never be.
What would you say? How and when?
Think about these things…if you can.
I’ve thought about it long and hard…I’d tell them everyday.
I think I know the answer and this is what I’d say.
“I love you. You are part of me. My soul you make complete.
Without you there would be no light…no love…life would not be as sweet.
You bring me joy and happiness…your voice helps me find my way.
I love you now. I’ll love you always as I do today.”
