God's Most Beautiful Angel-A Mother's Grief

You and I

You and I

We had a loved one leave us…and she was very dear.
You’d think we’d have learned a lesson…still…we fight and shed our tears.
If we can’t believe in you and me…can’t get to that familiar trust
How are we to stay together when we need each other so much?

You sang that song in your sleep you sang it for all three.
You sang that song for everyone…everyone but me.
You let me know you are the one…the one that saw her last.
You even made her coffee as was your habit in the past.

How was that to make me feel? Secure in what we have?
All we have done is grieve for her is that so very bad?
Our broken hearts will never mend if we can’t heal together.
My heart tells me that we are meant to be as one forever.

I am not one for guessing…so tell me what does your heart say to you?
I cannot read your thoughts. Explain to me what am I to do?
You have built a wall of stone and locked the message safe inside.
Where is the key that lets me in? I don’t like being left behind.

We’ve been together half our lives…you and I…husband and wife.
We have accomplished remarkable feats in this life.
Yet in our darkest tragedy we are drifting apart.
It seems that we are strangers within our beating hearts.
