A birthday again; another year has gone
Time is swiftly bearing us on
Carried as if on an ever rolling wave
Onwards one way to the depth of the grave
And what of eternity when the sinking sun
Gives way to darkness and fleeing days are gone
And life itself you cannot retake
When it is blown out like a candle on a cake
When Jesus walked the dust and grass of the earth
He spoke to sinners of new birth
And the words still are as true as spoken then
For eternal life; you must be born again
Born of the flesh we are corrupt
And life itself can stop abrupt
Born of the spirit; we live forever
And us from God death cannot sever
What rejoicing then when angels sing
And Heaven hears their voices ring
When good news wings on its way
A repentant sinner born again today
What celebrations here there is on earth
When we mark someone's natural birth
When congratulations and good wishes fill the air
To Heaven's celebration cannot compare
When celestial ears hear the Father say
Rejoice my angels on my child's birthday
They once rebeled and me did scorn
But now repented and are reborn
Birthdays come and birthdays go
How many left we do not know
But born again and from sin set free
Is the best birthday ever for you and me
