Poetry For Everyday People

Bad Dose Of Life

Enough scaring me

with ugliness, ulcers,
bills, betray, scams,
are you having a heart-
attack commercials,
little hearts on food
boxes, cans, heart healthy...

I don't wanna constantly
think about my heart beating,
my blood pressure,
I don't wanna constantly
be reminded of all that
could go wrong with
my body,

what isn't a scam?

just let me be, lingering
in what's above life, what's
beyond the bull of it, that's
where I breath well, I've
left your race, your war,
your suicide, long ago,

I don't want a single
ounce of it,

yet the cracks seem to
let fumes of hell snake
in, take a crack at me,
weather it's the manics
driving on the road:

dialing their phones,
eating a sandwich, running
me off the road,

or the red's in big
trucks, angry at everything,
it's not my fault they couldn't
get through high school or
that they lost a job to someone
who can't speak the language?

or the ones that call
and wanna bull me into buying
something?  time share anyone?
anyone?

people taken advantage of
people every second, there's
blood money to be made and
no mercy,

not even in people
that claim they are
religious,

you'll find me here
my beautiful friends
you'll find me here.
