He paints portraits of
coral, pearl, and pink
taffy stretching in two
serious women's' hands
both with brown hair
and brown eyes.

His brush strokes the canvas
as he submits the passion
flowing through his hands
from his mind's eye
where the surreal and real
melt in sticky colors.

The women pull out
strings of sugar
coming together again
into a ball not quite melting
where four steady hands
knead a world of sweetness
as fluid as the portrait he paints.
