A stage for one.
If no one is to feel as I
Then allow a mind to play
Pretence a game not to lose
But to tidy a sad persona away.
Perfected upon a stage for one
Directed by the dreamy loner
Loss be the spectators attending
Awaiting an incompetent star.
Spotlight burns to expose
A desire for love that weakens
Holding onto delicate threads
Between his fingers softens.
Upon these well trod boards
Hear the last performance
Given to all a swan song
Dying before the audience.
Solitude his friend, helps him
Burdened with a frown and tear
To where a stage is being set
For another long running year.
If no one is to feel as I
Then allow a mind to play
Pretence a game not to lose
But to tidy a sad persona away.
Perfected upon a stage for one
Directed by the dreamy loner
Loss be the spectators attending
Awaiting an incompetent star.
Spotlight burns to expose
A desire for love that weakens
Holding onto delicate threads
Between his fingers softens.
Upon these well trod boards
Hear the last performance
Given to all a swan song
Dying before the audience.
Solitude his friend, helps him
Burdened with a frown and tear
To where a stage is being set
For another long running year.
