Inspired by the night
rain on my windshield
glitters like stars
tonight absent
but wonders abound
in houses aglow
and I have decided
that Christmas lights
should remain lit
all winter long
like beacons in the dark
at a time when
darkness comes early
and sun rises late.
No matter what happened today
let there be lights!
Twinkling against dark skies,
shimmering and colorful.
Calling us to awareness.
