Behind the Mask
Who really are you?
behind your fake mask
I wonder if you
really know.
You speak your words
talk of your thoughts
but even now you
fail to show.
Just what is the essence
the true real persona
of your real self
deep inside.
Why do you feel you
have to pretend?
what makes you
choose to hide?
What do you think would
happen if just one
time you let your
mask fall?
How do you think your
real self would show?
could you still stand
and be tall?
Pleasantly you may just
realise, that nothing
could hurt you
or harm.
With the mask to one side
and courage within
go forward in hope
and with calm.
All of this time you've
stayed hidden
allowing your fears
to reside.
Now you are free
facing the world
as the person who
no longer hides.
