Teaching Life

You know how I teach and live,
Never a grudge I only forgive;
As well as what I want to do,
On living in this life through.

For I will not ever deceive,
Anyone on what I believe;
As patience a virtue thereof,
In having much along with love.

So the reason that I can tolerate,
Because there is hope as I wait;
As I put up with toils and strife,
Since it is better in the next life.

But there is no need to pretend,
That this life we live to contend;
Of all the beguiling pleasures,
Derived from earthly treasures.

But if your faith in God is strong,
Your resistance can also be long;
Involving self-control to obey,
While it helps me not to stray.
