" Looking Back At Me"
~~~
You had Just turned five
and I was only three.
I saw you playing in the sand
while looking backing at me.
~~~
Were at our football game
my brother Tommy and me.
I looked over in the crowd
and saw you looking back at me.
~~~
We met at the high school dance
you were chatting with Marie.
I leave to get a soda,
and you were looking back at me.
~~~
Were now going steady,
were nestled here under a tree.
With a goodnight kiss, you drive away,
while looking back at me.
~~~
Hand in hand, I take your name
I'll love you to the highest degree.
Down the isle, I look your way
with pride, your looking back at me.
~~~
Uncle Sam has called you now
your sailing out to sea.
With tear filled eyes; I wave goodbye
as your looking back at me.
~~~
Lonely nights without you near,
your face is all I see.
I dream of your returning
with you looking back at me.
~~~
But' now your missing over there
my heart is aching endlessly.
I need to see your face again
with you looking back at me.
~~~
They found you at the break of morn
you served with pride, and dignity.
And now your only in my dreams
still looking back at me.
