Christmas Every DayChristmas Every Day I see a woman putting coins in a pot While a Santa rings his bell She smiles at him, he gives her thanks As he wishes her well There's an old man in dirty worn out clothes Begging on the street People stop by and reach in their pockets He now has money to eat It's a time we feel so generous It's a time we give from our hearts It's a time we feel compassionate It doesn't seem that hard But why can't we do this all of the time Why can't these feelings last Why does it have to be once a year Why does Christmas have to pass We need Christmas every day There's a family reaching out to the poor Buying presents for some kids With smiles on their faces the children say We've gotten our wish list There's a worker at a department store Having a rotten day A customer comes up and smiles and says “Please have a happy day” It's a time we feel so generous It's a time we give from our hearts It's a time we feel compassionate It doesn't seem that hard But why can't we do this all of the time Why can't these actions last Why does it have to be once a year Why does Christmas have to pass We need Christmas every day There's a baby sleeping in a barn No room in the inn Three wise men come to stare at Him He manages a grin This baby born on Christmas Day Is the reason why we give He later sacrificed His life He showed us how to live Our sins He did forgive It's a time we feel so generous It's a time we give from our hearts It's a time we feel compassionate It doesn't seem that hard But why can't we do this all of the time Why can't these feelings last Why does it have to be once a year Why does Christmas have to pass We need Christmas every day There are people in need everyday Not just on Christmas Day We need to give in every way We need to do it everyday Copyright ©2006 Marvin H Lane Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
