Heart Of The Matter
Received, And Understood
Quietly watching, waiting,
Vision cleared by falling rain,
One final, futile gesture,
To smooth the path again,
Letters written in a scrapbook,
Locked away from prying eyes,
The starlight most unwelcome,
In your perfect painted skies,
Truth twisted and distorted,
And blackened is the name,
Just quietly watching, waiting,
As you stake your claim to fame,
Eyes blinded by the bleeding,
Words read and misconstrued,
No answer was the sweet reply,
Received and understood.
