Poetry For Everyday People

New York Seduction

Walking in Central Park
in the rain, six a.m.,
sharing an umbrella,
movie crew sitting up,
Al Pacino looking at
the camera as if a lion
who's cornered his pry,
without missing a beat
we keep walking, taking in
all the romance of it,

it was all for us that
morning, walking
where all lovers must walk,
tears here raise angels, love
glides off statues and memories,
I hear John Lennon singing Woman,

a cop on a beautiful horse waves at
us, smiling, I flip the joint in my
mouth in, wave back, flip it
back out as we pass him, blow smoke
at yesterdays moon.
