 ramblings and things

Dam Square 1964

She smiled with her teeth
She smiled with her lips
She smiled with her body
She smiled with her hips
But when I looked up
Much to my surprise
That beautiful smile
Never reached her eyes

We danced in that bar
For most of that night
She never let me go
From out of her sight
We slowly smooched
And I whispered sweet lies
To that beautiful young girl
With the unsmiling blue eyes

I paid for all of our drinks
Till my money was spent
Then she squeezed my hand
And straight away went
As I stood there amazed
Just wondering quite why
There was no emotion
In her lovely blue eyes

She was charming she was lovely
She was wonderful she was sweet
Then some hours later I saw her
Working one side of the street
I don't think that she saw me
But it made me realise
Why she smiled with her body
But not with her eyes

She danced like a dream
Was a wonderful looker
I wondered what made her
A street walking hooker
And I suddenly realised
Very much to my surprise
I would love to have made
Just one smile reach her eyes
