We`ve been neighbours/friends for 30 years
We have laughed and cried and shared our fears,
We`ve seen many changes along the way
But I wouldn`t change a single day.
Our kids have played together side by side
And made dens in the woods in which to hide,
We`ve seen them grow and go from strength to strength
And to help them we`d go to any length.
Sadly now these things will soon cease to be
The children have now got their own lives you see,
You`re leaving us here after all these years
There will be heavy hearts and many tears.
Together we have walked Whiskey and Sweep
In the sun, wind, cold, rain and puddles deep,
When people came I would look after you,
If dogs were about you`d look after me too.
Remember Pad and Bill went out one night
While walking the dogs they got an awful fright,
They thought they could see a real live bear
`Twas a cat on a stump with a lot of fur.
You`ll miss New Year with us zany crowd
With fireworks at 12 being ever so loud,
We`ll sing Auld Lang Syne and we`ll think of you
And remember all the good times we knew.
Leave you must and this we all know
Although we don`t want to see you go,
We`ll raise a glass and give you a toast
`Good Luck` to our friends on the East coast.
Choosing family is something we can`t do
But we`re ever so glad we chose friends like you,
We`ll watch you go with a tear and a sigh
It may be `Farewell` but never `Goodbye`.
