Heart Of The Matter

Burning Ambition

I wanted to be a great artist,
Change the world with some brushes and paint,
But early on in the proceedings,
I realised that an artist, I ain't.

Maybe, I could act for a living,
Find fame on the bright silver screen,
I'd dazzle the crowds at the Oscars,
With the rich and the famous, be seen.

I once thought I could be a soprano,
And this dream I would truly aspire,
But my talent remained undiscovered,
Drowned out by the rest of the choir.

Perhaps I would be a great writer,
And my book internationally sought,
But by the time I had written the first page,
I discovered I'd just lost the plot.

I did make a name with my camera,
And locally found some acclaim,
I had my own exhibition,
And I suppose, it was my claim to fame.

I guess I'll just never be famous,
And my dreams were just not meant to be,
Time alone, will take care of my fortune,
Revealing my true destiny.
