 THE TRAVELING LIFELONG BUSH POET

He Was Just A Country Boy

He was just a country boy
Born into a broken home~
His mother was almost always away
He spent most of his childhood alone~
His dad he kept on keeping on
And always did his best~
And somehow got the inner strength
To pass each and every test~
But he was just a country boy
And always tried to be like dad~
As way back then and way back when
His dad was the best friend that he had~
He later on got married to a girl
But that was not the love of his life~
He had two children to that one
But along then came the strife~
She seemed to like having a drink
Among other things that be~
Wasn't long just like a song
And he was alone again you see~
Later on he wed again
Making the same mistake's~
Trying to find this thing called love
But true love is what it takes~
He had now three more daughters
And spoiled them best he could~
Along came that thing called murfies law
He forgot to knock on wood~
Again alone and on his own
He stayed that way awhile~
Was not going to fall in love ever again
He often said wearing a smile~
Five children and four married
With children every one~
But he never got to go to a single wedding
And to cancer he lost a son~
All this time alone was he
Been alone since he was born~
Searching for that thing called real true love
Like a heavenly sunrise at dawn~
He had never committed a single crime
Worked every chance he got~
Gave it all he had to give
Seen this life as his lot~
Country music kept him sane
He wrote both poetry and song~
Always had a loving heart
But that had been his problem all along~
Takes a lot of courage this day and age
To bight the bullet and still stand tall~
But he got that from his father
And a few he had admired and all~
After all this time he met her
After all of his long lost prayer~
One day she simply turned up
He turned around and she was there~
I guess what they say has merit
Seek and ye shall find~
But it had taken most of his lifetime
Who said true love was blind~
He knew right then who she was
She knew who he was too~
As she had lived a similar life
And they had both searched for love so true~
Now he has written a book about
Some aspects of his life~
About how little children they need love
To grow without knowing trauma and strife~
He now after all this time has peace of mind
And true love beyond compare~
And for all who can relate to this
Believe me its out there~
He has a lot of hurt inside
He'll deal with it one day~
But he keeps it safe and tucked away
Hoping it will go away~
But one thing he knows now for sure
Is what true love is worth~
And argue with him many may
He'll tell you he's the richest man on earth~
