Extended Warranty (Personal Poem) 12/20/2006History: Christmas present for mother. She has been diagnosed with heart failure. But family wants her to know the many lives she touched throughout the years. Family is rich with love due to her and her love of God. Extended Warranty In the era of the Great Depression Many folks lived in quiet desperation. A family of sharecroppers, they were dirt poor Lacking in material things but had so much more. My mama was born with a heart condition that is rare, A heart so enlarged with love she just had to share. She didn't know any other way to be Giving her many gifts of love was her destiny So many lives were enriched and blessed Old, young, rich or poor, all were impressed. All the while there were twelve little eyes Watching and learning her love personifies. Like giving a penny bank when we needed bread Mama lived by the Good Book like Jesus said. Many times there was scarcely a dime But Mama knew He would come through in time There seemed to be nothing Mom couldn't do Her talents were as many as a rainbow's hue. One Christmas when times were tenuous and lean The tin can ornaments were the prettiest seen. She nurtured kids that were not her own Many were the seeds of love sown She raised us in the love from on high I know she will be blessed in the sweet by and by. But this Christmas I'd like her to see Her life is precious to many more then just me. She gave life and love to me, I'd like to give her an extended warranty!!!
