Robert
Standing there I shook
Water welled in both my eyes
I covered my face with a book
Long gray wall to those who fought
A tribute to all who got the call
Control emotions for naught
58,000 dead and what of the M.I.A.'S
They were there too, all Vietnam vets,
Strangers, become brothers in war days
He valiantly tried
With him just 30 minutes
Before he died
He volunteered to fly
At the last minute
He was a special guy
Shy and without sass
He will never be forgotten
Even in battle he had class
To trace his name
I took a graphite pencil
A keepsake was my aim
